PaSO 27th Anniversary

The Paderewski Symphony Orchestra of Chicago, a non-profit organization and the only professional symphonic orchestra in the world, aside from Poland, is committed to promoting Polish music and artists. Over the course of its 27-year existence, it has presented more than 380 musical events to nearly 400,000 adult viewers and over 48,000 students from Polish Saturday schools. From solemn galas at Orchestra Hall to symphonic concerts, annual carnival galas, oratorios, film music, and full-scale operatic productions, PaSO has earned a reputation for excellence. With the support of the Polish-American and American communities, PaSO has grown from a small chamber ensemble to a large cultural organization with its own staff, dedicated volunteers, and Academy of Music for children and youth. The organization has hosted more than 600 artists and has performed at Chicago's most prestigious concert halls, including the Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center, the Rosemont Theatre, Harris Theatre, and Millennium Park. Its audience has grown from just 400 in 1996 to a record-breaking 16,000 in the 2009-2010 season.

The average PaSO season consists of eight programs that showcase different types of music, from chamber to big symphony orchestra and opera, and from early to contemporary pieces, including Polish, American, and world music. PaSO also became the orchestra in residence at the Copernicus Center in 2010, where it presented a variety of complex multimedia projects, including Polita Musical in 3D, Pan Tadeusz, Carnival in Venice, Vienna Night, Dancing Chopin, Night in Spain, Haunted Manor, and more. The orchestra has also developed new forms of performances such as the Theatre of Song and the Family Festival "A Sunday in a World of Art."

In addition to its own concert season, the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra also participates in various community events, such as "The Magic of Christmas" Festival, TOP Festival, Majówka, and others. The orchestra has a broad and diverse audience, and its contribution to promoting Polish culture and music cannot be overstated. The Paderewski Symphony Orchestra of Chicago is an essential and unique organization that enriches the cultural life of Chicago and beyond.
